Family Trip to Japan - Part 7 - Ishiyama-dera

Today is a rainy day and my wife and I take the opportunity while the kids all play to jump out and take a quick visit to the nearby Ishiyama-dera. It is said that Murasaki Shikibu began writing The Tale of Genji at Ishiyama-dera during a full moon night in August 1004. After experiencing all the fanfare at some of the popular spots in Kyoto, visiting this out of the way temple feels much more relaxing and a more satisfying experience. We can quietly enjoy our walk through the temple and gardens at our own liesurely pace.

この日は雨。でも、子供達が遊んでいる間に、妻と近くにある石山寺に行って来ました。この石山寺は、紫式部が源氏物語を書いたといわれる有名な場所。ここは、有名なお寺ですが、京都の有名なお寺のように、人で溢れかえってるわけでもなく、落ち着いて歩き回る事が出来て良かったです。
