Hi everyone! What kind of alcohol do you like to drink? Me? I like sake, shochu and beer. You can find sake at many wine shops in NYC, but If you like sake, don't you want to try a more premium sake? Don't know where to go or what to get? Today, I would like to introduce my favorite sake shop called SAKAYA. SAKAYA ("sake shop" in Japanese) is located in my lovely community in the East village. They are the first shop to specialize in premium sake. The destination for both sake enthusiasts and neophytes alike. I asked SAKAYA's owner Rick to pick a good summer time sake to introduce to the Rock Mama NYC's readers.

This is Ginjo Sake from Yamagata prefecture.
Tasting notes : Dry and clean sake with a hint of juniper reminiscent of Tanqueray.
Food pairing : Aperitif, Sashimi, Sushi, grilled white fish.
Serving temperature : Chilled.
Yuzu is a is tart and bitter Japanese citrus fruit. This sake is blended with a great quality Yuzu juice and great quality sake. Surprisingly, they use about 18 Yuzu in 1800ml sake bottle. You can really taste the refreshing flavor and aroma of fresh Yuzu.
Tasting notes : Refreshingly light, bright citrus flavors combined with soft texture and hint of sweetness.
Food pairing : Dessert.
Serving temperature : Chilled.
I think this will be a great introduction sake.
One of the things I love this store is that is a husband and wife team. They have a lot of knowledge about sake and shochu and they are really friendly.
