Fundraising Event For A Public School in New York City 2016

My son goes to a public school in New York City. Since my son started school, I began offering a fundraising haircut event every year for the school, he is now in first grade. In New York, the given budget from the City is not enough to have art and music classes as well as other needed supplies or facilities. My son is going to a great school with great teachers which include art, music and dance classes. Another great thing about my son's school is that the parents in the school are very involved and volunteer to raise money for the school a lot. I decided to do what I can for the school fundraising and I began to offer Mom and kid's hair cuts. This is my 4th fundraising hair cutting event. Thankfully, many people continue to support the fundraising hair cutting event.
This year, I have decided to a do joint fundraising event with Self Salon's owner, Maria, at the salon I work. Maria has a daughter who is the same age as my son and she is also in public school. At this event, I asked some 5th -grade students to be our helper. They helped to sweep the floor, offer drinks to clients, and took care of the young children who came to the salon. It was really nice to see the 5th graders work with a lot of joy. The kid's and parents smiles make me so happy. The root of a hair stylist's job is to make your client happy. I'm glad that I chose this job. I'm very happy that I can use my skills to help raise funds for our school, and help make people happy at the same time. We raised $685 in one day. We split half for each school. I just donated $340 for my son's public school. Thank you so much to everyone who comes to support this event. Also, many people helped by sending e-mails to their friends to let them know about the event. I appreciate that very much. I will continue to raise money for the New York Public School by cutting hair:) I love what I do and I love my son's public school.

私はもうすぐ６歳になる息子がいます。彼は日本では幼稚園の年齢だけど、ニューヨークではもう小学一年生。幼稚園の時からずっと同じマンハッタン内の公立の学校に行っています。以前のブログ、ニューヨークと日本の学校の違いでも書きましたが、ニューヨークの公立の学校は政府が立てる予算が少ないために音楽や美術のクラスが無いのです。息子の学校では素晴らしい美術、音楽、ダンスの先生がいますが、それは、親や地域からの寄付で賄っているのです。息子の学校は親たちの協力が素晴らしく盛んで個人で寄付をする人たちや、学校のために寄付活動をする親たちが多いです。私も息子が学校に入って１年目からヘアカットをして、その日にいただいたヘアカット代を全て学校に寄付をするという活動を毎年１−２回行っています。今回は４回目のイベント。私が普段勤務しているブルックリンにあるヘアサロンSelf Salonを使わせていただき、そのサロンのオーナーMariaと合同チャリティーヘアカットイベントを開催しました。彼女にもうちの息子と同じ歳の娘がいて、彼女も公立の学校に通っています。そして、今回は５年生の女の子二人を私たちのアシスタントとして参加してもらい、床に落ちた髪の毛を掃除してもらったり、親御さんたちに飲み物を勧めてくれたり、小さい子と遊んでくれたりして、大助かりでした。何よりも良かったのは、彼女たちがとても嬉しそうに喜んで仕事をしている所を見れたところ。このイベントを開催するたびに親御さんたちと子供達の嬉しそうな顔が見れて、本当に美容師になって良かったなーと感じています。毎回の様にこのイベントに参加してくれる方々もいらっしゃるし、参加できなくても、自身の友人たちにこのイベントの事を連絡してくれて参加者を増やす協力をしていただいている方々もたくさんいます。本当にありがたいです。これからも、ニューヨークの公立の学校の為に美容師としても利点を生かして参加していきたいと思っています。今回、１日で$685ドルのお金が集まりました。これを、半分に分けて私と、Mariaの子供達の学校に$340ドルずつ寄付しました事をご報告いたします。
