NYC Hair Seminar For Japanese Hair stylists 大人美容師の合宿 In NYC 2018

Last year, I started a project to bring Japanese hairstylists to NYC. I introduce the way we color hair and also introduce them to a certain part New York City. I believe that in order to become a popular hairstylist, one must have excellent hair skills and be an attractive person inside and out. I believe being an attractive person means being able to discuss many kinds of topics, being creative, caring, and having good style. I believe that having experience overseas, to see and feel different cultures and art will contribute to being an attractive hairstylist.
In January 2018, Three Japanese hairstylists came to NYC for the first time for this project. They stayed in a beautiful loft in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. They learned the Balayage hair coloring technique from a senior colorist at Self Salon Brooklyn. Balayage hair coloring is not popular in Japan yet and many Japanese hairstylists don't use this technique. The hairstylists from Japan were very excited to experience and learn new techniques about hair coloring. To experience the class in English was also a very special experience for them. After the Balayage class, they had a fun evening meeting and speaking with a special guest who is a native New Yorker.
I got the idea for this NYC hair tour experience from the many personal e-mails I receive from hairstylists from Japan who dream to live and work in NYC. Many of them have never visited NYC. I think if you dream to live somewhere specific, you should visit to see and feel what it is like before you move to the area. I would like to introduce New York City, and show where and how I work. I also want to discuss their goals and dreams. I love to live and work in NYC very much, but this City is not an easy going place to live. I see a lot of competition, stress, and anxiety. But, on the other hand, I see a lot of big dreams come true. I think the Japanese hairstylists are right in thinking that NYC is a very special place.
こんにちは Rock Mamaです。先日、日本から美容師さん達にニューヨークに来ていただき行った、『大人美容師の合宿In NY』これは、ニューヨークに興味がある、ニューヨークが好き、ニューヨークのブランド力を自分自身に付けて美容師としてもっと飛躍したい人達を対象にニューヨークで大流行中のバレイヤージュのクラス、ニューヨーカーと交流、そしてニューヨークを自身の肌で感じて一皮も二皮も剥けて魅力的な美容師に成長していただこうという趣旨の企画。
『大人美容師の合宿 In NY』は他の美容師講習会ではまず体験する事のないオリジナルなスタイルなんです。まず一番特別なのは、ニューヨークに来て講習を受けていただく事。ニューヨークで大流行中のバレイヤージュの技術を学んでいただけます。その講習はなんと英語で受けていただくのです。なぜ、英語で講習を受けていただくかというと、私は、日本の多くの美容師さんに英語に対する恐れを無くして、インターナショナルな人間になっていただきたいからです。ですが、もちろん全部英語で、講習を受けてわからないと意味がないので、講師が英語で説明した後は、ニューヨークで美容師歴１０年の私、Rock Mamaが通訳するというユニークなスタイルです。
そして、講習が終わった後は、『ニューヨーカーとの交流会』ニューヨークには色んな面白い人たちがいっぱいいます。ですが、旅行でニューヨークに来られると、ショッピングや、レストランに行った際にお店の人と話すくらいで、現地の人たちと交流を持つ機会は少ないと思います。私は、みなさんに暮らすようにニューヨークを体験していただきたい！その思いから、ブルックリンの素敵なロフトで皆さまに合宿していただき、そして、そこにゲストを招きミニパーティーをしていただくのを提案しています。今回は、世界的に有名なヘアスタイリストで、シザーハンズのモデルにもなったEdward Tricomiを父に持つLuke Tricomiをゲストをして迎え、皆んなで、ワイワイしながら楽しい時間を過ごしました。（この際に私が、ステーキを焼くのが定番になってきました！）
