Comfy Izakaya - Village Yokocho

Japanese food is popular in NYC, especially ramen and sushi. What's the next trendy Japanese style of restaurant? Maybe Izakaya? I see many new fancy, stylish and trendy type of Izakaya in NYC. Today, I'd like to introduce this Izakaya called Village Yokocho. This is probably one of the oldest Izakaya in NYC. My husband has been living in NYC since 1984, and has been going there since then. Village Yokocho isn't fancy, stylish or trendy type of Izakaya at all, but very homey, comfy and reasonably priced. I feel at home when I go there.
ニューヨークでは日本食が大人気。特にラーメンと寿司ね。次に流行る日本食は何かな？もしかしたら居酒屋かもよ。最近ニューヨークではいろんな所でおしゃれな居酒屋がオープンしているもん。今日は、そんなオシャレ居酒屋がオープンするずっとずっと前から営業している、ニューヨークの居酒屋の中のでもかなり古いと思われるVillage yokochoを紹介したいと思います。私の夫は１９８４年からニューヨークに住んでいるんやけど、その時代から訪れてる居酒屋。高級、オシャレ、流行な居酒屋ではないけど、リーズナブルなお値段、家庭的で居心地が良い。私は、ココに行くと日本に帰ったみたいな気分になるなー。

Big red paper lanterns in this picture have Izakaya (居酒屋）written on them. Izakaya are sometimes called Akachochin. Which means red lantern. These paper lanterns are traditionally found in front of old fashion Izakayas in Japan.

おそらく８０年代の終わりか９０年代の初期のビール会社のポスターと、Stompという、ニューヨークの有名なショウStompのポスターが一緒に貼られていて面白い！Stompは有名なパーカションを使ったショウで、ニューヨークイーストヴィレッジOrpheum Theatreで観れます。

I enjoyed to spend time with my hubby at Village Yokocho. I have been living here in the USA for 17 years now. I definitely need to go to some places like this when I get a bit home sick for Japan. It's important for me.
夫との居酒屋デート楽しかった！アメリカに１７年も住んでいると、こういう日本っぽい所に行って日本を感じるのは、私にとっては大切な時間です。
